Optional Testing

Jackson Christian School

We do not recommend that Juniors take the actual
ACT or SAT until the spring or summer of their Junior Year.

PSAT Test

We feel that the PSAT test is a strong tool in the following areas:

• Lets students know if their on track for college
• Points out the student’s academic strengths and areas they need to improve
• Helps students find careers that match their interests
• Connects students with more colleges of interest

Jackson Christian School
The PSAT measures the following:

• Critical reading, math reasoning, and writing skills.
• Knowledge and skills developed through years of study in a wide range of courses.
• Ability to reason with facts and concepts rather than the ability to recall or recite them.

PLAN Test

We feel that the PLAN test is a strong tool in the following areas:

• Great preparation tool for the ACT
• Lets students know if their on track for college
• Points out the student’s academic strengths and areas they need to improve
• Helps students find careers that match their interests
• Connects students with more colleges of interest
• Provides an estimated ACT score

Jackson Christian School
The PLAN test includes the following:

• Tests in English, math, reading, and science-just like the ACT
• A career interest inventory that can help find the best career choices for students
• A guide that explains what students’ scores mean and how they can use them.

Jackson Christian School

Studies show that students who take the PLAN test score higher on the ACT than those who do not. The ACT is a test that most colleges require students to take prior to admission. We want to prepare our students for the ACT, which they will take in the spring of the junior year. The results will also give us an idea of areas we need to improve upon.
